Changes to LO 1 channel

As posted by Eric Dausman KD7DNM, in a 10/19/2025 email addressed to the CARES / LOARES membership:

As discussed at our monthly meeting [the LOARES October monthly meeting], our repeater frequency [the “LO 1” LOARES repeater frequency] will be changing on Monday, October 20.  It will be off the air from approximately 8:30 AM until the middle of the afternoon depending on access issues and the time it takes to retune some of the components.

On Monday, or as soon as you can get to it, you will want to re-program your radios for this change.  We are moving to 440.575/445.575.  The offset and tone stay the same.  There are three ways to do this:

1–You can manually change the receive frequency on Channel 29 to the new receive frequency of 440.575 and new transmit frequency of 445.575.  Consult your radio manual for guidance.

2–You can pull the existing programming out of your radio with the software provided with your radio or use CHIRP or RT Systems if you have it.  Then change the transmit and receive frequencies for Channel 29 to the new frequencies and send the data back to the radio.

3–You can use the CHIRP or RT compatible files that are on our Google Drive.

Click on the link below to get to the files.  There are three.  You will want either the RT or the CHIRP version depending on what software you have.  There is also PDF document called CARES ICS-217A 2025-10-15 Portrait  Please print a couple of copies and place one in your go bag and one at your operating station for quick reference to the frequencies.

This version has not yet been adopted by CARES, so it will not be available on their web site as the County plan until that happens.  It’s only available on the link above in the LO ARES Google Drive.

If plans change or problems occur, we will send out a notice via Groups.io
