KD7ZDO RMS Gateway stations – internet connections restored!

The KD7ZDO Winlink RMS gateway systems are all located in the CARES radio room, which is part of the Clackamas County Disaster Management facilities, in Oregon City.

In the first week of April, internet service to the radio room was disrupted, due to some network security measures put in place by the county IT department.

The loss of internet service in the radio room prevented any of the Winlink RMS gateway systems forwarding email traffic to and from the Winlink CMS (Central Message Server) systems, in the internet “cloud”.

While the RMS gateway systems continued to respond to over-the-air connection requests, and to receive inbound message traffic, all incoming messages were held in store-and-forward “mailboxes”, for delivery when internet service was restored.

The internet service to the radio room was restored on Monday, April 6. All of the KD7ZDO Winlink RMS gateway systems have returned to full functionality.
