Multnomah County Ultra Marathons

Greetings radio enthusiasts and seekers of adventure

Multnomah County ARES has “adopted” three ultra marathons this year and plan to provide radio communications support for the racers and event managers as we have in years past. We are the glue that keeps the runners safe and on the trail which we do by staffing aid stations and assisting with tracking the runners.

All three races are daytime single shift events, there are no overnight or multi-shift positions for these races.

Please follow this link for more information about the races and to sign up to operate a station – and to have a great time!

Approximately thirty days before the race additional planning materials will be sent out detailing locations, operating instructions and a tighter schedule. We will also be holding two virtual pre-event briefings for each race to make sure we are all comfortable and ready to deliver professional quality communications service.

Supporting these races events is fun, challenging and a great way to dust off your equipment and operating skills. We’ll have loaner equipment available for those that need it and for in-field failures.

We are trying to reserve a few camping spots near each race but they have filled up quickly and may not be completely successful. Dispersed camping will be available in the area.

Thank you for considering volunteering to support the 2024 series of MCARES hosted UltraMarathon races this year, we’ll make sure you’ll have a great time!
