Volunteers needed for 2024 “Reach the Beach Oregon” bike race

Posted at the request of Chad Gertz W7HTC, via Terry Niedermeyer W7TPN and CARES EC Steve Jensen KE7GXC:

Hello Terrence ,

I hope you all are doing well.  Our 2024 events planning has begun.  First up again this year is Reach the Beach Oregon. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this event, Reach the Beach is a bike ride benefiting the American Lung Association to raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research and advocacy efforts.  The ride this year will be held on May 18th, 2024.

The route for the ride, from start to finish, has changed from years past and is now mainly following the Hood To Coast route.  There are four start locations: 1. Sauvie Island, 2. Vernonia, 3. Jewell, 4. Astoria.  All routes will end at the Maritime Memorial in Astoria.

We are still early in the planning stages but want to be proactive in finding volunteers.  An initial list of locations and times is listed below.  We are looking for Ham radio operators to cover start locations, rest areas, provide rider support as SAG drivers, and as net control operators.

More details on the event can be found at the link below.

I am traveling this week so responses may be delayed, if you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please let me know.

Chad
